New robotic and sensing technologies have been developed the last couple of years. Robots become lighter, more cooperative with regard to humans, new types of exoskeletons have been developed, new types of joints and motors are available, IoT and BIM and Machine Learning/AI make big steps forward, totally new human-machine interface concepts are available, etc. Theoretically, all this would allow us to re-think the conception of construction robots from scratch. What is your opinion on current and future technologies to be used or be usable in the context of construction robots?

It's based on what purpose those robots will be used for. Social robots, however, require humanization, namely, humanized biological motion, humanized eyes, and humanized conversations.
There are a few papers concerned about real humanization, namely, Sofia, the robot, might not be consider as a humanoid due to many shortage in her functionality. Look at her eyes for example, its dynamics are very far from human's eyes dynamics. You may find the following articles of your interest:

In driverless cars these days the detection of dynamic obstacles and human obstacles is being worked upon, if that can be developed succesfully the same can be very handy at cinstruction sites.

Very interesting question. I believe robots should be able to travel along the same structures the built. This without having to use an external structure. They also need to collaborate. I believe the future is similar to how termites build their nest,.. With collaboration, without much recourse to external structures.
