Data visualization is among the initial and most essential steps of uncovering value from data. It influences the impact of data on our business strategy by identifying what insights to extract, how to work on data assets, and how to develop plans over time. With that said, what are the importance of data visualization software? And what features need to have to be the best?
Should be designed to show clearly all error rates of the data being visualized.

Importance is a relative concept, so visualisation is how important relative to what? But generally my answer is VERY.
What features we need depends on what kinds of stories you want to tell, and what kind of data you are dealing with.
Generally speaking however, visualisation software is something that should be available to everyone who needs to use the data, either for analysis or for presentation or for decision-making. That can be pricey if you want to subscribe to the really cool stuff, like Tableau (Aren't academic licenses great, Yay!)
The value I often see in good visualisation, is the range of values in any value: Instead of showing just averages, a good visualisation will also show the variation in a score, or a forecast, so that the error and estimation that is fundamental to any analysis is made clear.
