22 October 2013 2 6K Report

I was recently asked about how the Affordable Care Act may (or may not) influence public policy, federal research funding priorities, and treatment implementation for chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions. A quick glance at this complex legislation coveys how difficult it can be to address this question. There are subsections dedicated to pain care that emphasize the need for gap identification and integrated treatment/management programs, but dedicating my single brain to this question is really insufficient. Thus, I'm tossing this question out to the rest of the Chronic Pain group to see if others have insights. PLEASE NOTE: It is not my hope to stimulate a debate on the merits of the ACA, I simply want a sense of the implications.
