In New Zealand, media devices like mobile phones have become ordinary and part of our everyday lives. They act as a portal to friends, family and coworkers. They help bring those at a distance into the immediacy of where and how we are now, in this moment, this space/place. I'm interested in discovering how and why such devices are used during ritualised events like funerals or for Maori, tangi. Anyone have any ideas, or know of related research?
