I am working on developing Streptococcus mutans and targeting heme transporters. Any method on testing the intracellular heme levels of the mutants as well as primary literature that explains the methodology behind the techniques would be appreciated.

several protocols exist here. i wanted to try alternate protocol 1 but was logistically difficult.
