I want to have an idea about the current issues and future challenges of AI in the medical area. For that, I need some technical suggestions on the following questions:
1. How can we combine Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning techniques specifically for healthcare systems?
2. What can we achieve in the above case?

Take an example of computer vision which has already seen advances through AI or deep learning. If computer vision systems can classify different cars or breeds of dogs in images, then computer vision equally capable of learning to identify disease in medical images. For example, in the area of ophthalmology, computer-aided diagnostic screening for diabetic retinopathy can get benefitted.
This might sound a bit negative, but if we talk about AI in the medical area (specifically within a hospital) I would list the following issues: data access, quality of the data, limited data size, restricted hardware and possibly limited user rights (if you work within a hospital) and/or legal aspects (in case you process data outside the hospital).
Another major challenge in my opinion is the interdisciplinary: As a Computer Scientist you certainly need the knowledge and experience of a medic to solve such tasks. Also, from my experience machine learning itself is not the problem, but understanding, cleaning, and preprocessing the data, might be quite time consuming.
The recent trend & focus is on statistical approaches of Machine Learning towards data from industry, sciences, medical, business and politics etc.
