Hello, everyone! My name is Xu Yongqian, and you can call me Eric. My work focus on the coral microbiome. Corals are marine invertebrates that form close associations with a wide diversity of microorganisms, including photoautotrophic dinoflagellates(Symbiodiniaceae), protozoa, fungi, bacteria, archaea, and viruses. especially for zooxanthella and bacteria.

Before that, my main job was to isolate and culture Symbiodiniaceaeand bacteria, and study their ecological function. Recently, I found that few works have been done on coral symbiotic archaea. either because they are far less abundant and diverse in coral symbionts than bacteria, or because they are difficult to cultivate.

I know it's very hard, but I still want to try to isolate archaea from coral. I have no experience in cultivating archaea. Therefore, I would like to ask about the culture medium and methods of archaea. Besides, I also want to know the extraction methods of archaea DNA.

In a word, any experience, paper, scholars or other information is welcome. And if you have any ideas, please contact me. My email is [email protected]
