Strategies to save resources such as irrigation and N in the context of climate change: A simulation study was carried out to explore the possibility of efficient use of the resources such as irrigation water and N fertilizer for wheat crop in the context of climate change. Results revealed that in increased temperature scenarios, grain yield obtained from the application of 4 irrigations with 100 kg N ha-1 to wheat was at par with the yield obtained from 3 irrigations with 50 kg N ha-1. Thus, it is suggested that in increased temperature scenarios where the crop growing period is reduced by a week or so, it is possible to save valuable and important inputs such fertilizer N and irrigation water applied to wheat.
When the super typhoon Haiyan devastated Leyte and Samar islands in Central Philippines on November 8, 2013, the only food crops that survived and could be harvested by the hungry survivors were sweetpotato, gabi, and cassava. The tragedy taught us that crops that can withstand powerful winds need to be planted by farmers living in typhoon-prone areas. Moreover, the ability of local farmers to survive other climate-related calamities like drought and flooding is enhanced by their traditional crop production practices.
Efficient productive systems for Sustainable livelihoods, Integrated risk management, and Climate Adaptation, and Sustainable and low emission agricultural landscapes are among the major CSA strategies.
We have debated this issue so many times. Some strategies like conservation agriculture or any other forms of regenerative agriculture giving emphasis on conservation of natural resources without any compromise on net return from crop,
are always climate smart strategy.
Using less water, pesticides and fertilisers by using natural resources to develop hybrids of grasses, trees etc without using any form of gene editing - it is possible just not as interesting and therefore does not attract finance - a pity.
I feel if we think globally. usage of Agri-meteorology forecast, new crops with smart phones will be more in the near future. beside increasing cultivation, the best thing is to change the desert into farmland. and cultivation on the surface of the sea and oceans.

One of the most important things to know and work to set their dates and cope with climate changes is to set the dates for growing agricultural crops.
Climate-smart agriculture is art of using climate change sound technologies that enhance agricultural productivity and food safety resisting climate change effects.
Some challenges of climate change in Agriculture is drought, low rainfall, medium and heavy rainfall, hailstone problems and other natural calamities that really affect the agricultural crops and production. Better to have research record or make a research of time and intensity of occurrence of these problems such as drought, rainfall and other natural calamities. based on the research information, plan the cultivation of crops and protective practices to overcome the challenges that might bring by the climate change.
Some of the climate change strategies in agriculture could be capacity building on practices that may involve demonstrations to the local community on conservation agriculture, soil management, crop variety/diversification and implementation of good agriculture practices (GAPs) such as early planting etc
Green manure/cover crops, including trees, can bring resilience to climate change through a series of mechanisms: reduced field temperatures due to dispersed shade, reduced evaporation and transpiration of soil moisture, tripled rainwater infiltration, better retention of soil moisture in the root zone, etc. We have observed only an 80% reduction in maize productivity due to serious droughts in Mali, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Madagascar after six years of use of good gm/cc systems. That is, on land where maize produced only 1 t/ha in years of good rainfall six or eight years ago, it now produces about 3 t/ha in good years, and 2.5 t/ha in years of severe drought. The main tools of climate smart agriculture are use of improved varieties, cultivation of short duration crops and going for intercropping.

Examples: soil management, drought-tolerant maize, dairy development, farming catfish intensively, carbon finance to restore crop fields, waste-reducing rice thresher, rainfall forecasts and incentive system for low-carbon agriculture.
