I am currently studying on the insecticidal property of a plant species from Rutaceae (both crude extract and essential oil).
These are my questions:
1. What are the concentration of extracts needed?
2. What are the chemicals used as a control ?and in what concentration?

If you are trying to evaluate the toxicity/mortality of any reported compound and determine the LC50, you must make a Dose-Response assay; in which you expose the cockroaches to a series of concentrations; i suggest star with serial dilutions, to see in which range your crude extract and essential oil are active (generates mortality)

Hello,
There is many articles about effect essential oil against inscet, also u study material and methods part for each article.
You should obtain concentrations 20 to 80% mortality of insect by pretest, Also,you used antilog formul to determination of other concentrations( three concentraions).
Usually, aceton or methanol used for control.
