Research on service-learning has focused on traditional aged undergraduate students in face-to-face classrooms. What are the similarities and differences between this context and population in terms of age of students (both populations still studying at the undergraduate level and in a face-to-face setting)?
I have taught a lot of mature aged students at ACU and I find the best approach is to give them choice and flexibility in tasks/assessment and draw on the rich backgrounds they have in discussion.

Service learning has certainly a great pay off for the learners. However, One basic component of the program should be equipping the learners with critical thinking and autonomous learning skills which teach learners how to manage their own learning as effectively as possible.

Service learning would also be rooted in the interests of the learner and situated in a specific time and location.

Malcolm Knowles was a mentor of mine @ Antioch in Seattle. I have come to believe that we must create environments for people to be self directed learners.
As Jerry B. Harvey (another mentor) would suggest we must learn not to teach because we cannot teach anyone. We can only create environments in which learning takes place. We do not provide the learning, the individual does that.
If you frame instructional programs with that focus in mind you will be successful regardless of age group or background skills.
The problem or prospect of adult learning unlike the young learners are , 1.Adults want to insist their authority in learning process,
2.Sometimes, it is proved that they possess low concentration.
3.They want flexibility in the learning as well as in the assessment.
4. Adult have less patience and very frequent tendency to forget.
