I want to model carbon stocks in trees using CO2FIX model. I have indigenous and exotic on farm trees. What categories can i use for me to enter data in the model?
I have not used the model in a while. However, I believe you just create different cohorts. Each cohort can represent your trees eg. indigenous would be one cohort and exotic would be the second cohort. You would then enter the relevant data for each cohort with respect to biomass etc.
Check their manual: http://dataservices.efi.int/casfor/downloads/co2fix3_1_manual.pdf
It depends upon the availability of published volume equations for those species.
For example if you have say 7 tree species in question, and u know the volume equations for all these 7 species, then u can consider each of these 7 species as independent cohorts in CO2FIX model. U will get more accurate and precise results.
But, if u do not have published volume equations for all of them, then we can club them in broad three categories viz Slow, medium and fast growing tree species. In that case u will need three volume equations.
