I am using a plain HOPG electrode of 1 sq.cm area. After partial exfoliation in acidic electrolyte, the electro-active area gradually increases. I intend to calculate the increased surface area preferably by electrochemical techniques (or superior physical techniques).

There are many ways to do this. I would suggest CV first, because it will give a quick response when comparing a plane surface to your partially exfoliated HOPG Electrode. Then maybe EIS can give you a lot of information too.

Could you please elaborate or provide the reference of some such CV or EIS based methods that could be used to calculate the ECSA of exfoliated/porous HOPG Electrodes.
Currently, I am using Randles-Sevick equation using a well known Ferri-Ferrocyanide redox couple. However, I believe that this particular method is not suitable for a porous electrode and therefore I am searching other improved methods.
