I am using a Vehicle speed sensor to record data on the Vehicle CAN Bus in the form of digital data with sampling rate of 100 ms. Now I intend to remove the possible noise in measurement using some filters. Whether I should go for Time domain or frequency domain Analysis?? After removing the noise,I need to differentiate the signal to get Acceleration Data and again do I need a filter for getting good results here also?? It appears I need to use 2 filters for both velocity and acceleration and there is a bit of confusion on the type of filters and methods of differentiation. I am going to use Matlab for this activity. Is there any better or trusted way to do this??

I am planning for accelerometer but for the time being I have to do without it?
So as far as I can understand :
1. I need to take the Discrete FFT of velocity signal and differentiate the signal in frequency domain itself;
2.Then apply Low pass filter after derivative in frequency domain
3.Take the Inverse FFT
4.All operations in frequency domain only
Please confirm if this is right!
