I would like to use spherical nanoparticles (diameter around 30 nm) and deposit them homogeneously on a glass substrate previously cleaned using the RCA method. I have a POLO150i spin-coater. Any advice about protocole or spin-coating recipes is welcome. Ideally, I would prefer to work with water as a solvent.

Functionalising the surface with something like APTES (3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane) has been effective for me, but I'm sure other silanes would work well too. You should ask around the labs at your uni to see if there's already a suitable chemical to hand.

In my opinion, chloroform is the best solvent for dispersing nanoparticles. You may increase the concentration to 10 mg/ml and use low spin speeds such as 500 rpm. The chloroform will evaporate quickly leaving a good film of Nanoparticles. You need to take some precautions when dealing with chloroform. The alternative solvents depend on the ligand you have chosen to stabilise your nanoparticles. So you need to read about Hildebrand solubility parameter.
