I am interpreting a thick salt on 3D seismic data. Unfortunately, I am facing challenges to pick the top and bottom of the thick salt due to the low quality of the seismic data. I applied variance and chaos attributes and I am asking if there are better attributes to clear the salt?

Dear Moamen, please, May you show us a picture of your seismic section, to try to understand your problem and give to you a better answer? Do you have a wide-azimuth -WAZ- and long-offset 3-D acquisitions? Do you have reverse time migration -RTM- PSDM seismic?
Salt has unusual physical properties, such as velocity and density, and therefore, it is relatively easier to map in seismic, even in cases of low SNR due to the strong acoustic/elastic contrast.

Thanks for your help and answer. unfortunately, I can't share the data because it is confidential, and don't have permission from the response, as well I don't have all the mentioned above.
I can pick the top of the salt dome easily but the problem in the bottom surface as well as the salt reflectors between a salt dome and the next. so I need to apply attributes to clear those reflectors.

I do not have the answer to your challenge but I can advice that sharing a snapshot of the seismic section wouldn't violate your confidentiality agreement because there would be no way to trace the location of the data by mere looking at a seismic picture.

Thanks for your answer. I already used time slice and few types of attributes such as Variance (Edge method), 3D curvature, and RMS amplitude. I think that there are other attributes that will be better to delineate the salt.

If you re using Petrel, chaos and 3d edge detection modules are the beat ones to detect. Maybe, not sure, ant tracking can also be useful.
