What are the best possible strategies to detect a ship using underwater wireless sensor network?

Hi!

I am working on a project where I will have to find a smart way to detect a ship. I know there are several ways e.g AUV and UWSN but I want to build a smart sensing device which would be able to perform the (Internet of Underwater Things) IoUT task as well. I would like to make use of energy harvesting as well. Hence , if there are any approach you know which could be useful for ship detection (Intrusion detection) please let me know.
