IPM is one of ecologically & economically sustainable method. But non availability of critical IPM inputs is a major concern. So please do suggest what are the best ways to promote the IPM practices in field & horticulture crops.
Methods for the promotion of Integrated Pest Management:
1. Despite severe pest pressure, which annually causes significant economic losses in vegetable crops, growers show a willingness to adopt IPM practices as they become available or as their efficacy are proven. Growers have adopted many preventive practices, monitoring techniques and suppressive methods. The findings of this study might contribute to ongoing efforts to promote IPM adoption in Jordan. Extension specialists interact frequently with large numbers of growers and can provide advice regarding appropriate information about where to get IPM supplies. It is recommended to conduct IPM workshops and presentations, IPM training programs for growers, and develop a number of resources to support IPM programs. The expected outcomes are to increase knowledge of IPM, adoption of crop specific IPM strategies, and the diffusion of knowledge and practices via growers.
2. To accelerate the dispersal of IPM within the agricultural community, agricultural extension could also sponsor a series of IPM training courses through the off-season months which would specifically, yet simply, address IPM and how it relates to various fruits. In addition, governmental policies could enhance the adoption of IPM, which shows the important role of MOA in increasing the rate of IPM adoption in Jordan. Therefore, increased government support and investment in IPM programs (Templeton et al., 2010), and efforts of extension programs are very important to promote IPM adoption (Ricker-Gilbert et al., 2008; Castle and Naranjo, 2009). Furthermore, since there was a positive significant correlation between willingness to change to IPM and involving in IPM training, thus, agricultural extension/MOA could stimulate more overall IPM adoption by conducting more growers’ training programs to enhance the technical skills among growers about IPM practice for best adoption. Besides the strengthening of the extension arm of the implementation model, non-formal education methods such as FFSs need to be promoted to make growers literate in IPM practice through conducting IPM workshops and presentations, IPM training programs for growers, and developing a number of resources to support IPM programs. Our hope is that the results will serve as a catalyst for the adoption of IPM technology and will therefore contribute to the sustainability of agriculture in Jordan.
Organic Practices such as biological control and foliar nutrition are highly recommended in my opinion. Any how, chemical control shall be the last option. The Practice choosing must be evaluated and selected based on the ecophysiological potential scoring and plant Health Status Evaluation. The ecophysiological Status of Crop needs a deep study of biotic and abiotic stresses impact. Further, Modeling irrigation based on soil physical and hydrological Traits must be taken in consideration.
Set Action Thresholds. Before taking any pest control action, IPM first sets an action threshold, a point at which pest populations or environmental conditions indicate that pest control action must be taken. ...

As a first line of pest control, IPM programs work to manage the crop, lawn, or indoor space to prevent pests from becoming a threat. In an agricultural crop, this may mean using cultural methods, such as rotating between different crops, selecting pest-resistant varieties, and planting pest-free rootstock.Aug 26, 2021
