It is really hard to answer your question. Actually, finding a good dispersing solvent for MWCNTs is the subject of a major research nowadays. However, people are using DMF and IPA as commerically available solvents for CNT dispesion. In addition, several researchers are using acids to treat the CNT surface for better dispersion. My previous papers might give you further information:
My master thesis was based on dispersing MWCNTs in solvents. In my literature review, i found that three solvent are know as the best one. Dimethyl Formamide (DMF), N-methyl Pyrollidone (MNP,) and Chloroform. I should mention that DMF is teratogen, NMP is extremely slow drying and Chloroform is chloroform. DMSO might also be a good option. I ended up using water as solvent with the aid of surfactant (Triton X 100). If you can tell me what is your application, i might be able to help more.
P.S. I was able to find this paper that compares various solvents for dispersion of SWCNTs
Dispersing agents used can be divided into the group of organic solvents (such as dimethylformamide , cyclohexanone and ethanol) and charged polymers (such as Nafion and chitosan).
Charged polymers are more efficient dispersing agents allowing quicker dispersion of nanotubes compared to organic solvents. Moreover charged polymers offer higher stability of dispersion.
Chitosan dispersion of CNT offers higher sensitivity with shorter time needed for preparation of dispersion compared to Nafion.
Moreover, chitosan with natural content of hydroxyl and amino groups is suitable for further simple modification and efficient immobilisation of biomolecules under friendly environment.
When I get more information,I will share them.Pleas find attached file.
