Many of you have published articles with coauthors. I have also published articles with several coauthors across various academic fields.

Nevertheless, the process of publishing a quality academic paper can be stressful. There are many reasons people don't do as they say they would do. People often miss deadlines. Some coauthors will not put in the effort that is required of them. There are a plethora of examples of the attributes of terrible coauthors.

To the contrary, I'm interested in what are the attributes of great coauthors? I'm interested in knowing the ideal characteristics of coauthors. What are some things they do in the writing process that you can attribute to their success during the writing process? What makes them different than ordinary writers on team writing projects?
