Main Concerns with Shale gas are ground water contamination. In order to avoid the Groundwater contamination the hydraulic fracking pressure must be below to the hydrostatic pressure of the strata. This will maintain the pressure of Gas cavity within it, and the Gas steam Jacket will hold the Tar components formed due to fracking of Shale gas. That Tar Components PAH, BTEX, Phenols, Naphthalenes are the potential environmental threats.
Shale gas and oil is boon to economy. However, there are some environmental concerns related to hydraulic fracking. The fracking fluids might escape into shallow aquifers due to the failure of well casing and contaminate drinking water supplies.
