FMC-9: How does the long-term memory (LTM) in visual cortex be retrieved in order to rebuild the image in short-term memory (STM) for perceptions and reasoning?

My guess is that prefrontal cortex STM sets up 'pointers' to the relevant sensory cortices, thus stimulating them. The older work from Miyashita points in that direction.
