Research questions touching the possible impact of managerial leadership on organizational efficiency can revolve around what meaning is ascribed to managerial leadership and what styles of that leadership are practiced (e.g., boss- or subordinate-centered leadership), this based on forces in the manager, the subordinates, and the situation. A priori, what managerial style is adopted ought to be a function of the situation. That said, if data can be obtained, it would be of interest to examine how often a managerial leadership style is conditioned by, say, the organization’s preferred style. (Other drivers might be the specific work group, the nature of the work group’s tasks, the pressures of time, and what attitude an organization's members hold vis-à-vis formal and informal authority.)
What is anticipating and forecasting the future? ... How do you guide followers in the pursuit of excellence? ... What is the role of the leader? ... How do you measure performance? ... What are the strategies to achieve the objectives? ... How do we solve the mistakes made?
Prime leadership question is how a manager obtains the trust of subordinates in his/her decision-making concerning problems they face by vulnerable involvement in deliberations which encourage their contributions of tacit know-how and phronesis (practical wisdom) due to practicing jobs. Successful managerial leadership is primarily phronetic leadership. See my attached Academia Letter.
I would recommend reading the following article. It can be available on the ResearchGate:

Hopefully the examples/insights/guidance as per the following publications could help, namely: What makes a leader effective? / What types of managerial behaviour can enhance an effective leadership? / What skills can enhance an effective leadership? / What is good leadership? / What makes managerial leadership possible? / To what extent could managerial leadership enhance organizational performance? / Does managerial leadership contribute to organizational performance and/or survival?

One interesting topic would be to look at whether effective leadership achieves long-term improvement that is stable, or whether it is an input that needs to be continuously applied? Thinking of Jack Welch and GE. Were they optimizing short-term profits to the detriment of the long-term health of the business (in effect self-sabotaging long term), or were they not able to sustain the improvement / effective leadership once Welch left? Many, many companies are available to look at to do this type of retrospective analysis.
Problem solvers, guide questions and achievements with the human talent that directs: What is our mission and vision? How to create demand in the market? What are the strategies to achieve profits in a competitive market?
In the morning i read following sentences from Colin Powell in LinkedIn:
"Leadership is all about people. It is not about organizations. It is not about plans. It is not about strategies. It is all about people-motivating people to get the job done. You habe to be people-centered". I think this will answer many questions. From my point of view, you have to consider both different: Managing and Leadership. What do you think about this?
As far as I understand, a topic of research has to be selected. Then research objectives have to be framed. These research objectives will give rise to research questions.
So, if you share the research topics related to managerial economics, then it will be possible to talk about some research questions.
Research questions are derived from research objectives. I would like to request you to please share your research objectives, so that we can have a discussion about research questions.
Kenneth Ebosele we have published some articles on managers and leadership which you can use to help you with research questions, or semi-structured interview questions.
