Can any help me suggesting some non-conventional composites for an automotive leaf springs, apart from e-glass epoxy resin. looking for a light weighed material that can able to tolerate more fatigues and load bearing capacities than conventional alloys and composites.
A material made of two or more constituents either by the mechanical or chemical bond is known as Composite Material. Leaf Spring a type of suspension system was generally made of conventional materials such as Steel until the introduction of Composite Materials in the 1980s. Composite materials overtook conventional materials due to their advantages such as durability, light-weight, better vibration energy absorption, reduced transmission of vibrations, etc. The non-conventional Composite materials used for manufacturing Leaf Springs include Glassfibre Reinforced Plastic (GFRP), Glass Reinforced Epoxy, Polyurethane, Jute Epoxy.
