More profoundly, our knowledge of the world has deepened and provides us with a great deal more insight into its history and our place within it. Scientifically, our achievements have been aided by both conceptual and technical advances: atomic and quantum models, electromagnetic theory, and spectroscopy that bring these concepts together and provide an intimate view of the molecular world. These advancements help us know much about the natural environmental changes brought about for example by the interactions of the Earth with the sun and its sister planets. This knowledge also makes us aware of the ways human activities influence natural processes and what the consequences can be for the planet and our lives.

As scientists, our responsibilities are not only to understand the natural and human-influenced processes, but to help others understand them, and work with them to adapt to and reduce any negative consequences.

Dear Emad,

I think the important role is to show how important this issue for present and future. This subject is to research as international groups and I think many NGO are struggling with some governments that wish to leave its commitments of the last climate change conference COP21.

Please I hope to share my question below  about the same issue:

What is the strategy in your university for the next ten years to involve the adaptation to climate change?

Thank you very much for your very impressive comments, I was meaning in my question:

Is how to contribute ON EARTH as a specific group of RG platform community? For example creating RG members group(s) to conduct some trace in such international problem and by creating mini-meeting or webinars, or visiting universities, factories, ...etc to spread climate culture there! in my college in last April we establishing the so called annual green climate week, it was just simple initiation but their echos are truly endless.

I hope to expand and repeat such initiation in other places over the world.

I think we all agree to form a strong RG research group. This will help to sensitize people globally.

Very good question. As an individual and RG member it is our responsibility to share benefits of reducing climate change. Awareness is very important that will contribute for reduction and control changes in climate.Although actions of individuals do contribute to climate change, the question whether or not they, too, are morally obligated to reduce the GHG emissions in their responsibility has not yet been addressed sufficiently. First, I discuss prominent objections to such a duty. I argue that whether individuals ought to reduce their emissions depends on whether or not they exceed their fair share of emission rights. In a next step I discuss several proposals for establishing fair shares and also take practical considerations into account. I conclude that individuals should not always be obliged to reduce their emissions to what is their fair share for they may depend on carbon-intensive structures. Instead, they have a Kantian imperfect duty to reduce their emissions ‘as far as can reasonably be demanded of them’. In addition, they should press governments to introduce proper regulation. At the end, I further specify both duties.

Save water, consume less electricity, maintain greener landscapes around you both at home/office, restrict the use of paper, including currency, use recyclable products.

Make people aware, begin with your family members, about the non-renewable/ renewable energy sources, so that they can effectively use fuel and other energy sources.

All these are simple, practical measures which any one of us can do.

If every RG member follows what Asoori is suggesting then the world would be a better place soon enough.

However, I find that many researchers/ academics in my area are negative to all those initiatives and still need to be convinced. It looks to be easier to start teaching young children on the benefits of recycling, etc. that wasting energy trying to convince adults with strange minds.

Thank you so much Dr. Michael Issigonis for your frank post. The real problem is till this moment many people does not recognize the importance of this global environmental problem including researcher as you mentioned!!! My advice is to create an international society under umbrella of the UN to do something forward.

In general, not all specialists of its members are able to adopt research and studies on climate change, but we can establish associations or research teams and international conferences that include several axes to employ all competencies in the service of this sensitive and important topic, with the exploitation (involvement) of the academic environment to raise awareness among students as well as society on this subject

There is no reason for climate changes delaying. It is natural process, and we must accomodate ourselves to it with at maximum efficiency focused on loss reduction

I agree with Professor Michael Issigonis,  

even though the people are aware and convinced  about the issue , they just agree to it  but they don't act to conserve the resources.It is nice to teach children from very beginning but only teaching will not serve the purpose, for inculcating any values in a child , steps should be taken by adults to practice it.

As an RG Member, nothing more than just to increase awareness level among other RG members. However, as an individual, we could get involved practically as well, besides providing awareness.
