I'm reading plasma-related paper telling that ion neutralization at the surface is due to Auger neutralization. What is the Auger neutralization?
And most of the paper only mentions SEE(Secondary Electron Emission) by ion strike on the surface, not electron strike.
It looks SEE due to electron strike on the surface is not important. Why?
Please help me to clarify this questions.

when a ion strike on the surface of cathode, Secondary Electron Emission will be happened. due to repulsiveness between electrons and cathode surface, probability of electron impact is low, but it isn't impossible, only energetic electrons can reach to cathode surface. ions are attracted by cathode surface and probability of their impact is much higher than electrons. also, when ions strike cathode surface have much higher momentum than energetic electrons.

I see. Ions gain much higher momentum than electron with the same energy gain due to such a big mass difference. However, why momentum is important for SSE (Secondary Electron Emission)? I thought energy of incident particle on the surface only matters.
And It looks that the Auguer neutralization is the neutralization process in which electron from the surface is transferred to the ion to make ground state atom. The energy released from this transition is transferred to the other electron in the surface so surface excitation occurs (Creation of electron-hole pair or plasmon excitation).
I'm wondering how such a energy transfer occurs.
