There are different data book for endangered species and protected species and popularly known in different coloring books.

Red Data Books originate back in 60's when British conservationist Peter M. Scott first conceived the term "Red Data Book". They are defined as "Registers of threatened wildlife that include definitions of degrees of threat". They are published by IUCN and supervised officially bu the IUCN SSC (Species Survival Commission).
