Its very evident that research became part of our teaching profession. Ranking and Accreditation process are the buzz words that add flavor to this long running process.
Coming to the knowledge sharing perspective among researchers, due to exponential growth of technology the level of interaction as grown enormously across the globe. Need for collaboration in funded projects, consultancy projects and journal papers puts together passionate and like minded researchers together. Enhancing the count of contacts across the globe along with multidisciplinary research and same field research strengthens the network. Conference venue influences and promotes knowledge sharing among the researchers.
Need to go long way to ensure healthy research environment.

In line with Suja Radha 's comment, I think sharing knowledge among researcher is beneficial method to achieve adequate knowledge management. According to my experience, for many researchers, trust determines who they share knowledge with. However, the main restriction of sharing knowledge is the issue of piracy and plagiarism.
