In my course I will go through the regular solution model of liquid-liquid phase separation. I think it would be nice to do a demonstration where a mixture of two liquids is heated up so they mix. This could be visualized with some dye that is only soluble in one of the liquids. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion of what liquids and dyes that could be used? They should be fairly harmless so that the test can be done in a normal room.

I know that lutidine-water is one possible combination, but the problem with having water as one liquid is that the phase diagram will probably be reversed due to the hyrophobic effect. I would liek to show a system that really follows the regular solution model (higher temperature should promote mixing).
