I'm working on finding an alternative B2 vitamin production media, that contains a carbon saurce other than Glucose (such as molases, glycerol, HFCS etc.). The idea is to prepare this alternative medium and try to grow the cells inside a microfludic platform, so the overall viscosity of the cell medium could also be an issue (it shouldn't be too high, because of the small dimensions of a microfluidic platform).

Any suggestions, wheather any of the listed ingredients would be a sufficient carbon saurce for B. subtilis for production of Riboflavin, and what would be a more exact composition of prepared cell medium. Any suggestion of other carbon caurces are also more than welcome.

If anyone has any experience working with B. subtilis, either with a carbon based cell medium or any others, all the suggestions would also be welcoming.
