I'm trying to characterize peptide oligomers using the photoinduced cross-linking of unmodified proteins (PICUP) method without investing in the typical light source and camera shutter apparatus described in the literature (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19229175). I have read that it is possible to use just a xenon lamp or even a strong flashlight with longer exposure times, but I can't find many details. Has anyone tried this, and if so, what kind of cross-linking efficiency did you get?
