Mostly cotton fabrics are used in medical field apart from that what is the main advantages of using silk, polyester or blended silk/polyester fabrics?

As per my knowledge, polyester or silk are used due to their good strength properties which otherwise are lower in cotton.
The properties of each fibre are quite different.
First of all you must be sure that they use silk, or it is a common name many times assigned to a yarn used to sew bounds, but its composition is really different from silk.
On the other hand, the difference between the components can be based on the strength, but also on the biocomaptibility, the speed in degradation, if it is adsorbed by the body, moisture and water absorption ...
Ideally, silk being a protein fibre, it could be preferred to other fibres for medical textiles to be used in / on the body. But I believe there are better blends of silk with advanced polyesters? Polyester is a generic compound group. If there is clarity on what polyester, then the listing or answer could be more specific.
