- Basket pickers are another type of cotton harvester used in cotton farming. Instead of stripping the bolls from the plant, basket pickers use a series of rotating brushes and a conveyor system to gently pull the cotton from the plant and convey it to a basket or holding chamber.
- The cotton is then cleaned and packed into modules or bales. Basket pickers are known for their ability to minimize damage to the cotton fibers during the harvesting process, making them suitable for producing high-quality cotton lint.
- Modern basket picker machines often come equipped with features like GPS and yield monitoring to assist farmers in optimizing their harvest.
These two types of cotton harvesters are the most common and have been continually improved with advanced technology and automation. Modern cotton harvesters are capable of covering large areas quickly and efficiently, reducing the need for manual labor and improving the quality of harvested cotton. Additionally, they often include features for data collection and monitoring, which help cotton farmers manage their fields more effectively.
