I have data that I collected from two surveys I sent out. The surveys were distributed to the same group of people and they filled out one survey regarding the conflict styles they used as an adolescent with their parent, as well as one survey regarding the conflict styles they use as an adult in their romantic relationships. I'm examining the link between the two, assuming that conflict behavior as an adult is dependent on how conflict was navigated with parents. What type of SPSS analysis should I run on my data?

Normally we run the analysis in statistical software such as SPSS based on the objectives of our study. The objectives will lead to the type of analysis we are going to use. Furthermore, we need to look closely on the type of data we are collecting, so that we able to run the right analysis using the right data. The software like SPSS will run every data that we include in, however, we must know and understand the reasons why we are using certain analysis to address certain objectives.
Thus, I think you need to make yourself clear if what you are going to achieve in your study.

I think the most you can do with only two variables will be to run a simple regression with one predicting the other. Unfortunately, the question you posed is not feasible without a third moderating variable to assess. For example, when you speak of a relationship between two variables depending on another variable, you're evoking a moderation analysis. But you will need a third variable, namely the moderator, to answer this question. Cheers
Here's a simple way of doing it. Suppose you measured 4 conflict styles: Collaboration, Accommodation, Avoidance, and Forcing. I would calculate the correlation between 1) Collaboration as an adolescent and Collaboration as an adult, 2) Accommodation as an adolescent and Accommodation as an adult, etc.
You would then have 4 correlations. If they are all positive and significant you would be able to argue that the conflict style that one uses as an adolescent with one's parents predicts the conflict styles one uses as an adult in romantic relationships.
