We talk a lot about financial planning for retirement but not so much about leisure planning and skills. If a person doesn't know what do with themselves in their free time from work (except be exhausted), then they probably don't have the skills / networks / habits /interests etc to have satisfying time when they retire. Don't wait till after retirement and expect that you will be a new person and suddenly pick new things up, start planning before you retire so you have more time to do the things you already know you enjoy and find satisfying. Volunteer work can be a positive experience for the volunteers as well as the recipients- providing social connection and a sense of value.

No problem some one can retire from one job, no need to retire from life, S/he still can do many things.
I have continued my efforts to help people living with dementia — those diagnosed and their care partners— by writing a book, journal articles, book chapters, giving lectures to professionals and to families, meeting with family members. At the same time, my wife and I enjoy travelling, going to museums and galleries and so we make it a priority to do those things. I have also begun reading books that I never had the time to read while I was working full time. There is so much to see and to do. If not now, when?

Debe planificar de antemano su vida atendiendo a sus gustos, preferencias o aficiones. Hay cursos de preparación para la jubilación que incluyen cómo emplear el tiempo, el manejo de la economía, etc. Tiene su complicación pero el resultado suele ser positivo a todo nivel.
