Furan has Tb= 31.3 oC while 2-furaldehyde has Tb= 161.7 oC. Pyrrole has Tb= 129 oC while 2-pyrrolecarbaldehyde has Tb= 217 oC. In both cases, there is just an added aldehyde(-CHO) group at position (2). I think the increases are abnormal, but I do not think that they are due to an increase in molecular mass. What accounts for these sharp increases?
