Over the years, there has been a rise in the number of studies that have been conducted to examine the phenomenon of jealousy experienced by users of social media platforms (often without a standardized tool). This phenomenon involves comparing, competing, and pulling down others for the sake of securing the attention of others. Previously, many researchers have used the Facebook Jealousy Scale which measures this only in the context of Facebook. However, the Social Media Jealousy Scale (SMJS-15) is a 15-item scale that can be used to measure jealousy across multiple social media platforms. Most importantly, it has been published in an open-access platform and can be used by anyone for free.
