We are not a medical school but we provide CPD for trauma and orthopedic surgeons globally. We use blended learning (online and face-to-face) for our faculty development successfully since many years. To develop the programs, we used the same approaches and concepts that we use for developing our medical curricula such as backward planning to define competencies, etc. I'm happy to share more information if you have some more specific questions.
During my Medical training at Brighton & Sussex Medical School we were privileged to superb Embryology teaching using screencasts which has the benefit of visual illustration of difficult developmental concepts. This was reinforced using seminars and lecture format using presentation slides. I would further recommend the use of older Medical students to teach younger Medical students which has benefits of reinforcing deeper learning and developing teaching skills for older Medical students.
I actually have a wonderful overlay model for blended learning. It is based on the Motivations-Attributes-Skills-Motivation Quality Validation Model (Stevens, 2003). If I am clear on what you are seeking, this could be tailored to meet your needs. If I can be off assistance, my email is [email protected].
