It would be interesting to see all common agronomic parameters , apart from changes in soil physico-chemical properties and atleast changes in microbial count to say the least . Such studies need long term term evaluation in field , since results of controlled condition , often do not corroborate with field results . But , surely your study will prepare you for better filed response study . Good luck..

Apart from the basic nutrients, soil and organic matter provide many other essential elements into any crop depending upon the genetic make up of the crop to maintain its own identity. Corn being the staple food of the western countries, the grain size would be utmost important and you need to check whether biochar (depending upon its own composition) provides the inputs desired for this character.

You need controls for the inputs in the chars, e.g, minerals, and the pH change.

The following points are important:

Nutrient concentration as much as possible ( for essential plant nutrients) from the biomass at harvest

Growth rate: measure the length of all leaves at different stages then transform the data of each date then look at it.

Data needs transformation for its normality! I hope it could be interesting but you need intensive data.

If you are able please look at also the mass of the root!
