Thanks for your help. I already convinced myself to redo the analysis using adonis of R package vegan. In your ICES paper, Primer's anosim was used but according to vegan author Jari Oksanen, the adonis procedure is more robust and therefore preferred. In my benthos recolonisation paper I already used adonis. In my first paper we investigated whether macrozoobenthic assemblages were significantly different using Simprof routines (also included in Primer). Assemblages were also separated in the nMDS plots.
