Greetings

Pardon my lack of expertise on this highly technical subject. I am a soil scientist by education, working with economic utilization of saline soil and water resources (Haloculture = Shoorvarzi). Water splitting sounds to me like a very important and applicable technologies for energy production (and perhaps drinking water production?), especially in drought affected, under developed areas in arid regions of Iran and other parts of the world. In saline ecosystems, fresh water resources are scarce, and mostly saline waters exist. Plus, we have two huge saline water bodies in the country (Caspian sea in the north and Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman in the south). These water bodies, specially in the south are abundant. I believe they could be a reliable and sustainable source of renewable energy production by water splitting. Your comments would be greatly helpful
