Many cities of the world are having zero potable underground water.

In some cities, like Chennai of India, the underground water is so salty that it cannot be consumed. It is due to salt water intrusion from the sea. But the condition was totally different even 10 years ago.

There is technology to desalinate the sea water to make it potable [Example: by Forward Osmosis (FO) technology]. Though, even the poor country like Oman is practicing such technology for decades.

Do you think due to the reason of getting regular cut money from the canned and bottle water supplier business Mafias, our politicians are not interested to introduce this technology?

Or there are other reasons?
