In Syria now, there is a problem with plant water hyacinth (Eichhornia), in my opinion, reintroduced of Bubalus (water buffalo) as a natural enemy and restoration of natural cycles of Environment, it's enough to solve this problem and to keeping water resources in save.
What's your opinion ? and what solutions can be taken?
Water Hyacinth is one of the fastest growing plants known. Its primary means of reproduction is by way of runners or stolons, which eventually form daughter plants. It also produces large quantities of seeds that are viable for up to 30 years. Because of water hyacinth’s ability to quickly reproduce, populations often double in size in just two weeks. Water Hyacinth can grow in height to as much as 1 meter above the surface of the water. It is supported by an erect stalk that has a single spike of 8-15 flowers. The flowers are usually lavender and pink in color and have six petals.
Water hyacinth is considered an invasive species. When not controlled, it will rapidly and thoroughly cover entire surfaces of lakes and ponds – dramatically impacting water flow, blocking sunlight to native submerged plants, and starving the water of oxygen; often killing wildlife such as fish. Water hyacinth is an aggressive invader and can form thick mats. It is very important to control water hyacinth before the entire water surface is covered.
Water hyacinth control is difficult. The most effective methods of control rely on prevention. The herbicide that recommends using for Water Hyacinth control is Glyphosate 5.4. This herbicide should be sprayed onto the plants. (lakerestoration.com)

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is a problematic weed outside its native range. It is also a big problem in several states of India. The plant clogs the water bodies hampering navigation, fishing and agriculture. Water hyacinth depletes the dissolved oxygen content of water and increases the turbidity of water. It also depletes the biological diversity of aquatic ecosystems. The luxuriant growth of water hyacinth leads to organic matter accumulation consequently the process of succession is enhanced.
Chemicals like Paraquat, 2, 4- Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and Aminotriazole are quite effective herbicides to destroy water hyacinth.
Weevils like Neochetina bruchi and Neochetina eichhorniae and the moth Niphographta albigultalis are effective as biological control agents to control the water hyacinth. Weevil Neochetina eichhorniae reduces plant height, weight and root length.

Water hyacinth and Ipomeas are IAS (invasive alien species) to a shallow lacustrine environment. 3 F's are needed to get rid of it i.e. Flood, Flush and Fish. Herbicides are available to eradicate. India is also having the same problem particularly in water bodies along east coast.
In my country, the solution to the problem of water hyacinth is to use it to be an economic resource for people and regions. Water hyacinth can be harvested, and processed into handicrafts (home insdustry), animal feed or into vegetable pesticides for agriculture and fisheries.

@Mustafa Nur Istanbuly, Animal feed made from water hyacinth can be used as food for cattle or buffalo. In my place of origin sometimes it is also called "beef candy". in essence, how to make the problem of water hyacinth to be an economic benefit. Because, however, handling the problem of water hyacinth requires a long time and expensive costs from technology.
