Good morning, I am researching the use of visual language in scholarly communication. What I find so far is a lack of visuals and a lack of visual literacy. Even though digital scholarship affords multimodal representations of knowledge, most communication still is text-based. The formal alphabetic prose reminds me of print traditions.
I wonder. Should scholars be made more aware of visual language? Are there academics that have embraced the possibilities of combining verbal and visual language?
I would love to hear this community's thoughts on the matter. Thank you in advance.
