As a default by RG itself, I received this discussion among those that I could answer. First I thought it was an advertisement, but I found out that it is a discussion, so I found it worth to take part. As I read it fully, several questions came to my mind. among them are: how PhD students can finish a research in 3 months? if they are visiting, it means they had done the research with other supervisors in their universities? so is it an honest act in science to add the name of others? if it is "collaboration", how can it finishes at that level (PhD) in three months? what are those "high impact scientific journals" that will publish "all within 3 months"? why motivation be on publication, but not for example on discoveries, inventions, or even higher level of learning and understanding? as I notice in every piece of this discussion emphasis is on publications.

Well, they do not finish their entire PhD study, but a specific research activity whose outcomes are valuable of publication.

Yep!

As long as they contribute with their knowledge to the collaboration and the outputs, then yes!

A collaboration to address a specific knowledge gap, often an experimental one in my case.

The research activity has been performed all within three months, but the writing of the manuscript could spill a bit over.

Why not? Ultimately, the requirements to achieve a nice publication embrace all the above mentioned points.

Dear Manlio, thank you for clarifying the case. Also I appreciate that you started this discussion. You have addressed one of the most important problems in the world of academia.

We daily confront in our feed page that many young researchers around the world have problem for publishing their manuscripts. Worse is those PhD students near before/after VIVA/Defense, but still unable to publish the results in an acceptable journal.

I think by now you have seen the results of Sugimoto et al., (2013) 10.1016/j.joi.2013.08.007. On acceptance rate of journals, that just in health sciences the acceptance rate is higher than 50 percent (56%). In other 4 disciplines (Computer Science, Business studies, Education and Psychology) that they studied, the acceptance rate is even lower than 40%.

Björk (2018), had almost a similar result. According to his findings, the overall global average acceptance rate is around 35-40%. (10.3145/epi.2019.jul.07). And the situation for high impact journals is even worse.

May you please share your findings about the content of this discussion, as implies that the acceptance is guarantied, specially in reference to: "Would you like to be the next one?"
