saprophite microorganisms are beneficial, but for some, their virulence may be harmful. can we inhibit virulence factors without destroying microbial cells ?
If some of those virulence factors are under control of quorum sensing mechanisms, certainly you can inhibit their expression through quorum quenching molecules keeping cells alive
