As it is mentioned in Wikipedia, Vetlesen Prize is a prize in geology awarded jointly by Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and the G. Unger Vetlesen Foundation. It is considered to geologists as "Nobel Prize". Nomination of candidates to this prize was intended to be every two years. It is wondering to me that the prize is not every year. Also, why geology is not included in the branches of the Nobel Prize?!
