I am contacting you in order to seek your opinion on the validity of the approach I am using in the framework of my thesis to optimize the allocation of security barriers for the reduction of vulnerabilities of critical infrastructure to natural disasters.

In my approach I started by characterizing a number of security barriers through several criteria using the Topsis method. 

Then, I used the value aggregated by the Topsis method to optimize the allocation of these barriers under budget constraints via a Knapsack model. Thus, I transformed a multi-objective optmization problem to a mono-objective problem within a view to implement the approach easily in excel.

​Is the approach accurate ?
