Sometimes, abstracts shouldn´t exceed a certain amount of words, 200-300, typically, depending on the journal. My questions is if it is necessary to define in the abstract well-known acronyms of microscopy techniques (when you submit to the field of material science) such as scanning electron microscopy=SEM,TEM,HRTEM,EEELS,EDS etc.

When you are using all those techniques for the same work, it takes so many words that are after needed to explain your research results. Most of the author guidelines for different journals that I have checked don´t indicate anything about that issue. Thanks in advance!
