I'm currently working on a time series of vegetation indices, and a key question I have is which method of atmospheric correction to use. Is it absolutely crucial for achieving accurate results, or is it something I can potentially skip? I would appreciate some insights on this matter.

I hope you are doing well. I have previously worked in something similar, so one input I can give you is that when analysing time series data, it is vital to try and standardize the whole data from the first to the last entry. Even though the vegetation indices cancel out many annoying things, it is still very robust to use atmospheric corrections for all the data as you want all other variables (other than your target index) to be as less varying as possible.
