I have uploaded my conference proceedings to ResearchGate and when I try to upload the conference presentation with the same DOI ResearchGate it gives me the below error.
Any recommendations? Why we cannot upload two search components related to the same DOI
The DOI is a unique identifier for digital objects (e.g., electronic files with publications). It is not possible that two objects can have the same DOI, therefore ResearchGate correctly does not allow to use a DOI twice. Rather often conference proceedings have a DOI, but the individual presentations do not have their own DOI, although they should have. This leads to conflicts when two researchers try to upload their presentations with the same DOI.
My recommendation is to simply omit the DOI in the ResearchGate entries.
What about using interdisciplinaryrepositories like OSF? In that way I will have a new DOI.
